Watch New York Jets vs.Indianapolis Colts nfl football usa big sports match tv link with hd print

KC has shown an almost Zen-like stubbornness for running the ball this year with the exception of the first Broncos game and the second Chargers game. It’s no coincidence that they fell behind early in both losses and had to abandon the run. In most of their other games, they have remained committed to running the ball and it has paid off. The Ravens are still fairly

formidable against the run, but as the season has worn on, they have shown that they can be worn down. The Chiefs needs to use Charles’ speed to the edge (definitely the Ravens weakness) more often than they have all season, but they must also use a combination of Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle up the middle just to keep the defense honest. The nice thing is that Charles is more than capable of running the ball up the middle and Jones can catch the ball out of the backfield if needed. That will keep the Ravens defensive line guessing just enough for the Chiefs offense to work. Finally, if Haley or Weis is reading this (and why wouldn’t they?) can you PLEASE give the ball to Charles twice as much as Jones this week? Nobody respects the job Jones has done more than me, but over the last five weeks, he’s averaging about three yards per carry. Charles basically tied Jim Brown for the all-time NFL record of 6.4 yards per carry for a running back that gained at least 1,400 rushing yards.

Matt Cassel is the key. Again, it’s hard to get that Oakland loss out of our heads, but Matt Cassel became the heart and soul of this team over the last half of the season. If the offensive line can give him more than half-a-second to throw the ball, he’ll be able to find Dwayne Bowe and Tony Moeaki in the middle of the Ravens zone and the Chiefs will be able to move the ball through the air. Bowe has a size and strength advantage over Baltimore’s corners and should be able to get open for seven or eight catches for 100 yards. Moeaki can get past Ray Lewis, a sure-fire Hall-of-Fame linebacker that has sadly gotten old. It happens to everyone and Lewis is no exception. Knowing where to be on the field is great, but if you’re a step slow in the NFL, you cannot hide.
